Chapter 08

Trace Evidence

Introduction
Trace evidence describes material that, if you
could see it, could be considered by some as useless debris. In fact, it usually is debris. Debris can tell a story of what happened at that crime scene and perhaps, who did what to whom. But first you have to find it and
collect it. When you can't see it - that can be a problem.

Read the case of "To Hair is Human" where I wasn't horsing around. "Pull your foreskin back," I said in my most commanding
voice, imitating one of those medics at boot camp, except they always added, "like you really like it." The last thing I wanted to do was to get this guy excited, so I kept the command in the short version. As he followed
my order, with the deputies giggling in the background, he revealed the upper surface of the head of his penis, the glans. It wasn't what I expected to see!

And also, read the case of "A Lucky Cup of Coffee".
